FULTON, MO -- The William Woods University baseball team struggled to find wins this week, however, their offense wasn't an issue and that was helped out by Greg Hamrock who was named American Midwest Conference Player of the Week.
In those four games last week, Hamrock combined to go 6-for-9 (.667 average) and added three doubles. His best game came against Tabor College, where he went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two doubles, leading the Owls to a 9-3 victory.
The senior is now batting .417 on the season through nine games played, which puts his average fourth best on the team and third in the conference. The Downey, Calif., native also ranks third in the AMC in slugging percentage (.625), 14th in hits (10), second in doubles (5), 15th in total bases (15), and ranks sixth in on base percentage (.462).
The team will look to get back to .500 this weekend, as the Owls will travel to Hannibal-LaGrange in their first conference match-up on the season. First pitch on Friday is set to be thrown at 12:00 p.m.
