WWU's Sicht and Bowden Recieve AMC Honors
ST. LOUIS - On Monday it was announced by the American Midwest Conference that William Woods swept the conference's weekly awards, as MacKenzie Bowden and Caroline Sicht were honored as the Pitcher and Player of the Week for their performances during last week's games.
This is the second honor for Bowden this season, as she went a perfect 4-0 last week, striking out 27 batters in just 16.2 innings of week. The highlight of the week for Bowden came during the first game on Saturday, as she threw a five-inning no-hitter against Benedictine University at Springfield. The Hartsburg, Mo., native allowed just one unearned run in the four games pitched, lowering her season ERA to 1.27.
Sicht had a breakout week, as she hit .818 (9-of-11) over five games with three home runs, while driving in nine runs. The sophomore collected at least one hit in each of her five games this week. Her best game came during the first contest of a Saturday doubleheader at Stephens College, as she went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI's.
The Owls will be back in action on Tuesday, as they host no. 5 Williams Baptist College in the school's annual Senior Day game. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
