Yo-Yo Pro Presents at Columbia Public Library
COLUMBIA - Families and children came to the Columbia Public Library to learn more about how to yo-yo Monday night.
Ian Cole presented a workshop called yo-yo-ology, where we showed neat tricks and shared insider secrets about how he designs and modifies yo-yos for competitions. He also gave kids the chance to learn the history and physics of the yo-yo. Kids were even allowed to try to learn to yo-yo with the help of Cole.
Cole is a local yo-yo professional. He holds both the Missouri and national titles for his performance. He will be competing in the world championship in Florida on Wednesday in the off-string division.
Cole taught himself to yo-yo seven years ago using books and the Internet. He practices up to two hours each day teaching himself new tricks.
If you want to become a yo-yo pro yourself, Hot Box Cookies Downtown holds a free yo-yo learning session every Sunday from 1 to 3pm.
