Young mother jailed after toddler ingests cocaine
SEDALIA - The Sedalia Police Department Drug Enforcement Unit arrested an 18-year-old woman Wednesday after investigators said her two-year-old daughter ingested cocaine.
Sedalia Police said Shaina I. Claxton put her daughter in a substantially risky situation by having drug use and distribution in her environment.
The Pettis County Children's Division conducted a follicle test on the toddler in November, which tested positive for the drug.
Sedalia Police Department STING Unit Detective Kevin Klien said authorities took Claxton to the Petits County Jail where they put her on a 24-hour hold, pending state charges.
