Young voters speak on President Obama's immigration reform
COLUMBIA - Following President Obama's Thursday night announcement of a new immigration plan, young voters explained their views on immigration reform.
Members of the College Republicans and College Democrats explained their stand on immigration reform.
College Democrats are in favor of the plan to help undocumented immigrants.
"I think it's a great thing that the Obama administration is doing something to get immigration a bigger issue and to let people to be able to come to the United States and work in the United States" said College Democrats Outreach Chair Doug Witt.
College Republicans do not think this plan is the right solution and that Obama is abusing his power. Representatives say he should work more with Congress.
"It is just going to leave a whole bunch of uncertainty for those that will impact for the five million illegal immigrants right now that would impact. It's just going to further complicate their situation, and it's just not going to get anything beneficial done," said College Republicans State Chair Philip Arnzen.
Republicans on Capitol Hill are already speaking out against Obama's plan.
