"Why does KOMU find it mandatory to respond to a viewers comment in such a way that it implies the viewers comment are offbase. Maybe the management might use the viewers comments to learn rather than an attempt to justify an irritating practice. Silence can be golden as well as educational," said John.
"Well the fella just may have a point. We don't mean for the responses we air every Sunday night on Your View, to be excuses or to be a putdown for someone who is good enough to send us a criticism or a comment. We certainly don't want it to sound like we are being defensive about how we do things. Indeed, sometimes the viewers call in and we admit to mistakes in the way we have operated. But we need to be transparent. As a news organization our KOMU news viewers have a right to understand how we go about making editorial decisions. And we try to answers those as best as we can. It is important for the citizenry to understand how news is made, so i hope this doesn't sound like an excuse," said KOMU's, Kent Collins.
