First Alert Forecast
***A Flash Flood Watch is in effect through Sunday Night. Southern counties are under a Flash Flood Warning***
The pattern for the weekend will be multiple waves of heavy rain and thunderstorms throughout the state on Saturday and Sunday, especially southeast of Columbia and Jefferson City. Central Missouri could still receive anywhere from 2” to 5” of rainfall this weekend while areas along I-44 near Rolla could receive locally higher amounts. Since the ground is saturated from recent rains this week, areal and flash flooding will be our main concern this weekend and likely into Monday. Temperatures on Saturday will reach the lower 60s with a strong breeze out of the northeast. The southern viewing area is under a slight risk with hail and wind as the main threats.
Heavy rain continues Saturday night as lows drop to the lower 50s. Expect more rounds of showers and a few thunderstorms on Sunday, with highs a bit warmer, reaching the upper 60s.
As rain clears out late Sunday, clouds will likely stick around even into Monday with a few spotty showers. Cooler air will begin to wrap into the system and spread over Missouri on Monday. Temperatures early next week will be in the 50s, rising into the upper 60s by Tuesday.
