Pockets of snow flurries will develop over western and central Missouri this morning with temps in the upper 20s, rising into the lower/middle 30s by this afternoon. A northwest wind will create wind chills in the 20s.
Dry air will have a significant impact on this storm system, preventing most areas north of I-70 from receiving wintry precipitation. Throughout the day, up to a dusting of accumulation is expected for central Missouri with up to ½” of accumulation expected for areas south of Hwy 50 and the Lake Area.
Light snow showers will exit south-central Missouri late this evening with clearing skies overnight. A northwest wind will pick up at 10-20 mph, ushering in a bitter cold airmass. Temperatures tonight are expected in the middle 10s with a wind chill in the single digits.
A strong, cold high pressure system builds over the Midwest Thursday. Sunshine will return, but conditions will be the cold of the season thus far. Highs on Thursday and Friday in the middle/upper 20s with a wind chill in the 10s. Friday morning temps are expected in the lower 10s.
