First Alert Forecast
The coldest air of this season so far has set in this morning. Temperatures in most rural areas have fallen into lower 10s, some areas as cool as 8 degrees. Winds will be out from the west today, but not as brisk.
Sunshine will continue today with highs in the middle to upper 20s and a wind chill in the lower 20s. A west wind will settle to 3-5 mph.
Clouds will begin to fill the skies early this weekend and a south wind will help bring in warmer air from out of the south. Temperatures will warm into the middle and upper 30s
As of now, a wintry mix may be possible throughout the day Sunday and some icing has been trending into the forecast. Our current thinking is that this ice potential will be in the early morning and evening while temps are still near/below freezing. Otherwise, drizzle and light rain showers will be the most likely precipitation during daylight hours. Temperature are expected in the middle 30s.
This system clears by late Sunday and sunshine briefly returns Monday with temps back into the upper 30s to near 40 degrees.
