Bitter cold air sets in today as a large area of high pressure builds in from Canada and expands over the central Plains. Temperatures this morning have fallen into the upper 10s with wind chills anywhere from 0 to 7 degrees.
Conditions will be brisk this afternoon due to a west wind gusting up to 25 mph. Expected high temperatures will be in the mid/upper 20s. Wind chills will be as high as 15.
Westerly breezes will settle as a more stable air mass moves in over Missouri tonight. However, the coldest air so far this season will set in overnight as lows are expected to fall between 8 and 13 degrees. Wind chills by Friday morning will be near 5 degrees.
Friday will be quiet with a few high clouds in the afternoon, but very cold once again as temps will only warm into the upper 20s.
Trends of slightly warmer air heads our way as winds slowly shift out from the southeast by Saturday. Temperatures will rise back into the 30s. clouds will begin to move back in by late Saturday with a chance for a rain/snow mix on Sunday.
