***Severe Storms are Likely Saturday Afternoon-Evening***
A lifting warm front will be a major player for Saturday’s weather. In the morning, clouds will stick around but slowly clear as this front lifts north out of the Ozarks and moves into south-central Missouri, south of I-70. Severe storms are expected to develop across mid Missouri beginning around 2 PM and continue into the evening. Highs today warm into the middle 80s.
Quick intensification of storms is expected today. All modes of severe weather will be possible in Missouri Saturday with our main threat being very large hail (baseball size), damaging winds (80 mph) and frequent lightning. Tornadoes will also be possible in a few thunderstorms. This tornado threat is likely to diminish after dusk, becoming mainly a damaging wind threat overnight as the system moves through the area.
Cooler and drier weather will move in to central Missouri on Sunday providing sunshine and mild temps in the middle 70s. These conditions will continue into Monday for Memorial Day with sunshine and highs near 80.
