First Alert Forecast
A heat advisory will go in effect at 12pm today and continue until 8pm this evening. The heat index is expected between 100 to 105 due to high humidity levels and a very warm temperature in the middle 90s this afternoon.
A brewing storms system to our west may send clouds our way throughout the day, and an isolated passing shower may be possible throughout the day. This system may also provide slightly cooler temperatures than expected, but still going with the idea that a partly to mostly sunny sky will help temperatures into the lower to middle 90s with a south wind at 5 to 10 mph.
As a cold front approaches northern Missouri, showers and thunderstorms will begin to form along this converging zone by early to mid-evening. While most of the rain holds off until after 8pm, showers and heavy thunderstorms are expected to impact northern and central Missouri overnight and through Thursday morning.
A passing cold front Thursday will spark a few more storms again in the afternoon over central and southern Missouri, clearing after 5pm in the afternoon. Temps on Thursday will be in the middle 80s and the high humidity is slow to move until the evening.
Into the weekend a cool, Canadian air mass aided by a developing high pressure system over the upper Midwest will send comfortable and sunny weather our way. Temps from Friday through Monday will be in the lower 80s with morning lows in the lower 60s.
