Skies will remain mostly cloudy now that the low levels of the atmosphere are mainly dry at this time. Temps will remain below freezing with highs in the upper 20s to near 30. This should continue to allow for road temps to cool further.
Another round of freezing drizzle will move in this evening with freezing drizzle/rain and sleet forming overnight through early Thursday morning. This time, roads will likely be cold enough to create ice accumulations around a glaze to 0.10". Expect icy roads on Thursday morning. Heaviest ice accumulations will be over western Missouri where heavier sleet may develop.
A slow warm-up will eventually push temps above 32 degrees by mid-morning. This warmer air will end the freezing rain event and send temps to near 40 in the afternoon. Any precipitation thereafter will only as rain. Another chance for rain exists Thursday night.
More rain showers are expected Friday evening and throughout the day Saturday, but will be much lighter than earlier this week. Temperatures will be warm enough that only rain is expected. this system will exit Sunday leaving sunshine in the fore cast and highs in the 50s early next week.
