First Alert Forecast

Showers and a few thunderstorms will continue through late morning and rain could be heavy at times, especially west of Hwy 63. Temps out the door will be in the lower 50s.

Clearing conditions are expected during the late afternoon with gusty east winds picking up at 5-15 mph, gusting to 25 mph. This wind will be out from the south east later today, signifying the return of moisture, enough to produce strong and heavy thunderstorms this evening. Temps today will rise into the lower to middle 60s.

There is a slight to enhanced risk for strong to severe thunderstorms in central and southern Missouri after 5pm this evening. All modes of severe weather are possible this evening. Main threats will be strong to damaging winds and large hail, in the addition to 1" to 2" of rainfall which may lead to flash flooding due to already saturated grounds from recent rains. While remaining a low threat in central Missouri, higher probabilities for tornadoes exist as far north as the Lake of the Ozarks and will be closely monitored. Most storms will weaken after 11pm and continue to produce heavy rain and frequent lightning before dissipating early Thursday morning. Flood-prone areas may have high waters by Thursday morning and afternoon.

Thunderstorms will begin to dissipate by Thursday morning with another chance for storms to develop by the afternoon. A few storms east of Hwy 63 could be strong. High temps are expected to reach the middle 60s.

This slow moving storm system will begin to exit the Midwest by Friday with clearing skies and sunshine returning by the upcoming weekend. Temps will hold in the 50s Friday before rising back into the 60s Saturday and Sunday.
