To obtain a burn permit, contact the Fire Marshal's Division at 573-874-7556, M-F 8-5. (573-874-7450 on weekends)
No charge for open burning permits
Fire crew will inspect your burn site for safety and issue your permit
Permits issued based largely on weather conditions
May burn untreated wood, limbs, ect.
May NOT burn trash, leaves, grass, construction materials, plastics, or any material which emits noxious smoke or fumes
Burn area should be a minimum of 15 feet from any structures
Burn area should be no larger than a 3 x 3 area, with some exceptions
Fire must be attended at all times until extinguished
Fires are to be extinguished by dark
Have a garden hose and hand tools readily available in case fire gets out of control
If the fire does get out of control, call 9-1-1 immediately
