BREAKFAST IS THE MOST IMPORTANT MEAL OF THE DAY! NO ONE DISPUTES THE FACTS THAT A GOOD BREAKFAST MAKES BETTER STUDENTS WITH FEWER DISCIPLINE PROBLEMS. AVOID SUGARY BREAKFASTS!
Egg sandwich: High fiber, high protein, low calories, low price: Toast two slices of whole wheat bread (try to find REAL whole wheat which is grainy) in a skillet with a small bit of butter on both sides. Set the toast aside and scramble (or fry) an egg in the same skillet., if desired, place a slice of cheese on top while warm, and slide the egg onto the toast. Of course you could now add a bit of ham, cooked sausage, sliced tomato, a leaf of lettuce, or a squeeze of mustard . Out the door, sandwich in hand.
Waffles: Try the above, using either leftover or frozen/reheated waffles.
Biscuit and eggs: Look what happened when McDonald's did this!
Using any biscuit (or English Muffin), slice it open and place a serving of scrambled egg inside, adding the usual preferred ingredients: cheese, prepared meats, provide this stack with a top (the other half of the biscuit) and off you go.
Wrap your teeth around this: Using a tortilla (or crepe) spread scrambled eggs with crumbled sausage and grated cheese. Fold one end up, then roll the sides, making a burrito!
You can make a "wrap" with just an egg (two if your skillet is big) eggs, well beaten, thrown across the bottom of a hot buttered skillet, left to cook into a solid circle!
Pancake and Eggs Walk-about: Use leftover, frozen or fresh-made pancakes instead of bread, place either a fried egg or a scrambled egg inside, along with a slice of cheese, a couple of slices of cooked bacon if you wish. If you've got time, do this in the morning, if not, put it all together the night before, wrap in waxed paper, refrigerate or freeze, then microwave as your student (or adult) walks out the door. Dispose of the waxed paper responsibly!
Get hard-boiled: After you've hard-boiled and peeled an egg, treat the slices as if they were "cold cuts", which they are! Either eat them out-of-hand, or like sandwich fillings!
