Moon and Sun Eggs and The Legend
Thursday June 18 2009
(YOU MAY CALL THEM MOON AND SUN EGGS, SINCE THEY'RE LIGHTLY
GREEN ON THE OUTSIDE AS IS THE MOON, AND GOLDEN INSIDE AS THE SUN)

When a jar of pickles, any flavor, any brand, is empty and the only thing
left is juice, do not throw away the juice.  Hard-cook as many eggs as
you think will fit into the jar or juice, peel them, and while still
warm, drop them into the jar of juice.  After they cool (or before, it
really doesn't matter), place the jar in the refrigerator.  These will be
wonderful for a high protein pickup any time - for wedges on a
cheese/cracker platter - for making egg salad with, even for deviled
eggs.  Nothing could be easier, handier, cheaper.  It's recycling the
juice and providing an instant bite for hungry athletes.

I have a file drawer full of recipes to make the pickle juice, can't pick
a favorite, so Google "picked eggs recipe" and you'll find 590,000
choices!

Of course, "pickled eggs" were sold at bars to keep the drinker as sober
(as possible) with their high quality protein (as long as possible).

The Legend of Moon and Sun Eggs

Hundreds of years ago, deep within this continent, there lay

a beautiful land of flowing streams, gently undulating

slopes, forested hillsides, broad rivers and magnificent

limestone cliffs.   In this beautiful land lived a tribe of

Natives known far and wide for their sagacity, their

peaceable ways, and their fairness - not only in their

dealings, but of their maidens.  They were called upon by

all others in the country to sit in Council under a certain

ancient tree, where nations would come to have disputes

settled and to hear the wisdom that they spoke.

In fact, centuries later, a white man, Daniel Boone, would

sit in court under that same Judgment Tree.

These natives were known by a lengthy and descriptive

name (common in those days) the name "O Sage Ones,

Keeper of the Fruit of All Knowledge".  You see, it was felt

that their wisdom derived from a certain food, known only

to them - the Fruit of All Knowledge.  Other tribes, of

course, desired this food for themselves.  One such tribe

was particularly persistent, earning the name "“Blackfeet"

after their habit of creeping around in the night, trying to

capture the secret of the Fruit of All Knowledge.

However, this sacred food was safe in the keeping of the

medicine woman, "Ooor-Eee".  No other nation was able to

discover the secret of Miss Ooor-Eee until now, in this

auspicious time, this special day of Proclamation, the

twenty seventh day of the month of May of the year two

thousand nine, when the secret is herewith revealed to the

Great White Father of this beautiful land deep within the

continent, and the legacy of the Osage is once again

brought to the feet of power - the key to the preparation of

the sacred Fruit Of All Knowledge...

A food which is freshly, softly as green as springtime in the

forest of this beautiful land; as round and luminous as the

moon which appears over the rivers, as golden inside as the

promise of the sun which comes in the East.

Behold!  We share with you the actual re-creation of this

miracle, the Fruit of All Knowledge of Miss Ooor-Eee!

Governor Jay Nixon - may you eat of the fruit and thus be

able to wisely judge all those who come before you in this

mighty structure, the Capitol of the State - of Miss Ooor-

Eeee - as easily as if you were indeed seated in the

legendary shade of the original Judgment Tree.
