JOPLIN (AP) - Four law enforcement agencies in Missouri will split a 1.2 million-dollar federal grant to fight methamphetamine use. The city of Joplin and sheriff's departments in Barry, Vernon and Jefferson counties qualified for the Justice Department grant "based on significant meth problems." Joplin Police Chief Lane Roberts said hopes to use the city's share of $340,000 to work against what he calls the "demand side of the meth problem." He said that while a big part of the grant is for enforcement, education and treatment will also be addressed. Barry County receives $327,000, Vernon County gets $236,000, and $323,000 goes to Jefferson County.
