Nurse practitioners from across the state are meeting to discuss ways to improve the care they give. Nurses also listened attentively to new developments that could help the patients they treat. The conference also discussed the buisness side of medical practice. One nurse who owns and runs her own medical clinic in a rural area, has her own remedy for curing patient's needs.

"I had people coming in saying, 'Do you need equipment? Here I have this. Do you need help nailing, hammering, assembeling, I'll help you.' It was just a tremedous out pouring of love from my community," Laurie Thiem explained.

Attendees of the conference each received information folders with handouts from breakout sessions. However some nurses said that the medical information they recieved was just as important as hearing stories from other nurses across mid-Missouri.

Thiem's story inspred nurses at the conference, and patients in her town.

"If you have an option where you can either open your own practice or go to work for someone else, consider opening your own practice. It may actually improve the access to care in your immediate neighborhood," Thiem said.

Those attending the conference heard 15 speakers over a two day period.
