The Tigers lead man Chase Daniel won't win the Heisman this season, but he's still leaving a legacy as the best quarterback at Mizzou.

After 4 seasons of football and more records than a music store, senior quarterback Chase Daniel has one more chance to put on a show at the Big 12 Championship game.

"There's not much more important in our guy's lives than this game," Daniel said. "You look at it and this is the biggest game that we've played in," he said.

It's bigger than Daniel's record 439 passing yards and 20 straight completions against the Colorado Buffaloes.

It's a game bigger than any of the four times he tossed a record 5 touchdown passes in a game.

"Our goal was always to win a Big 12 Championship and we put ourselves in a position to do so," Daniel said. "It doesn't matter our record, it doesn't matter what's happened in the past. All that matters if from here on out," he said.

The past doesn't matter, but it's the reason Daniel is defending the Tigers this week.

"You want to look at their weapons," said Daniel. "Well I want to look at ours and what we have to bring to the table, and I feel good about our guys. Chase Coffman has the most catches in the Division 1 history. Derrick Washington ranks 3rd in the Big 12 in rushing. 8th in the NCAA in scoring. Jeremy Maclin leads the NCAA in all-purpose yards. I don't think there is anybody close to him," Daniel said.

And there is nobody close to Chase Daniel in the record books. He hasn't just rewritten it. Instead, he's started a new one.

Daniel has the 3 best passing seasons in school history. He has more than 12,000 career yards passing and more than 1,000 career completions. Daniel tossed 96 career touchdowns and broke his own single-season record with 34 touchdown passes this year.

"There's this fine line between having a super, super year and having a great, great year," Gary Pinkel, Missouri head football coach, said. "He's having a great, great year and how we finish will ultimately tell the whole story anyway," Pinkel said.

"We want respect and it's not going to be given to us," Daniel said. "We just got to go out there and get it," he said.

Daniel is only 100 yards away from taking Brad Smith's total offense record.
