TUSCUMBIA - A 28-month-old girl from Tuscumbia died on Sunday at University Hospital after being airlifted from Miller County.
A friend of the family who asked not to be identified said the family is devastated by the toddler death. The Miller County Sheriff's Department is not releasing much information about the case.
A news release from the sheriff's department advised adults to never shake a baby or child, but the news release does not explicitly state this is a case of shaken baby syndrome.
Tuscumbia resident Jonathan Smith said the whole incident is hard to believe.
"I couldn't imagine somebody doing that. I really couldn't. It's hard to put into words," he said.
The case of another Miller County toddler, 20-month-old Ocean McCoy is still being investigated as a shaken baby incident.
