This week, the story with The Most views on KOMU.com was about an injured Marine fighting to get compensation from the VA. Fark.com brought many of you to the story that we first told you about two weeks ago, with more than 350 comments about it on their website.
Lance Cpl. Josef Lopez was paralyzed by a routine vaccination after just nine days in Iraq. While the VA paid his medical bills, it denied him and his family TSGLI compensation that would pay for thousands of dollars in non-medical bills -- and Senator Claire McCaskill says he deserves it.
"Frankly, I really think we need to take care of this young man and his family. He was willing to take care of us," McCaskill said.
The indictment of 15-year-old Alyssa Bustamante for the murder of 9-year-old Elizabeth Olten brought you to Twitter and KOMU.com for updates. On Wednesday, a judge announced Bustamante would be tried as an adult and assigned a public defender to her case.
After we posted Bustamante's mug shot on our Facebook Fan page, Carrie Jo Moon commented, "She looks bored, not remorseful." Cole County Sheriff's Department Sgt. David Rice testified that Bustamante planned Olten's murder and told him it was because she "wanted to know what it felt like".
Another story with The Most views was about a house explosion that killed 20-year-old Amber Smith and her four-month-old son Simon Callaway County on Saturday. Officials say no foul play was suspected, and that propane for a gas stove was a factor.
