MOBERLY - The town of Moberly came together Saturday night to protest the death of Stanley Harlan.

23-year-old Harlan died early Thursday morning after Moberly police tased him. Stanley's family and friends spent the day together comforting one-another. While they talked about their favorite memories, the day was also full of sadness and anger because the family members believe his death could have been prevented.

"I just want him to come home," Athena Harlan, Stanley's mother, said. "I was standing right there with him."

Athena Harlan saw the incident happen only a few feet away from her home.

"They just wouldn't let me near him, they wouldn't give him CPR and they wouldn't let me help," Athena Harlan said.

"It was just a terrible shock and I couldn't believe it, couldn't hardly believe my ears," Bill and Shirley Baum, Stanley's grandparents, said.

Close family and friends offered each other support.

"He's going to be sadly missed, all his family, friends, and his son," Athena Harlan said.

As the day went on, the crowd grew larger causing a traffic jam and clogging the sidewalks as the group walked to the police department.

Athena Harlan is holding a candle light vigil Sunday from 8:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at her house.
