CENTRALIA - Police arrest Lynn Bittle Monday for taking prescription drugs from residents living at Sunset Gardens, a senior living apartment complex.

Bittle was first noticed after knocking on an apartment door and asking the 59 year old resident if she could come in and use the bathroom.

Residents of the complex contacted Centralia, Missouri'S Police Department about similar activity back in November.  Residents told police Bittle would come to their door with a small child and ask to use the bathroom.  If they let her in, residents discovered prescription medicine missing from their bathroom cabinets after Brittle left.

Police told residents on how they could assist in her arrest. Nothing happened for months... until Monday when Bittle knocked on a door at 5:30.  The resident insisted she had the flu and wouldn't let Bittle come in. Following this the resident called the Centralia Police Department as Bittle went to the next apartment.

Bittle was arrested while walking out of a 59 year-old residents bathroom of a with three bottles of prescription medicine in her possession.  The medication belonged to the resident.

Arrested alone, Bittle was taken to Centralia Police Department then to the Boone County Jail in Columbia.

Centralia police will ask the Boone County Prosecuting Attorney's office to consider these charges:

- Class B Felony of burglary, 1st Degree
- Class C Felony of stealing/theft of a controlled substance
- Class C Felony of Possession of a controlled substance
- Class A Misdemeanor, elderly abuse 3rd degree
- Class A Misdemeanor, driving while driver's license suspended

Chief Larry Dudgeon of Centralia Police Department can be reached at 573-682-2132 with questions or inquiries.
