O'FALLON - The recently unveiled Republican duo of McCain/Palin traveled to Missouri on Sunday, battling heat for a rally along with thousands of loyal supporters.

A day before the Republican National Convention kicks off in St. Paul, Minnesota, presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain introduced his running mate to Missouri.

"She's exactly who I need. She's exactly who the country needs to help me fight the same old Washington politics," said McCain.

Sarah Palin talked about her achievements as Alaska's Governor, and described her goals for America's future.

"We don't want bigger government, we want a government that does a few big things, and does them right," explained Palin.

Palin said McCain's tenure in the Senate showed off his strengths as a leader, standing up and working with politicans on both sides of the aisle, especially when it wasn't a popular belief.

"It was Senator McCain who refused to hedge his support for our troops in Iraq, regardless of political costs," explained Palin.

The rally brought together several former presidential candidates who now endorse McCain, including former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney.

McCain's visit marks the second time this week a presidential candidate visited the show-me state. Barack Obama campaigned in Kansas City on Tuesday.
