JEFFERSON CITY - Many people want to eat healthier, but sometimes it's hard to know where to find the right options.

Today, Missouri farmers and consumers talked about bringing more organic food to the state. It is a long process from the farm to the finished product, but organic food producers want to make more organic food available to Missourians.

"We're just bringing all these people together, together to work to provide more markets for our farmers," said John Wilkerson, president of the Missouri Organic Association (MOA).

The MOA wants to create co-ops with other states.

"One of the things we're working on is this idea of cooperative marketing," Wilkerson said.

Beth Steber started eating organically for a reason closer to home.

"As a result of my son, who started body building, and he got the entire family enthusiastic about eating better," Steber said.

It is a change she feels everyday.

"A feeling of health, it's one of those feel good types of situations," Steber added.

She said it can be hard to find organic food in Missouri. She and Wilkerson hope this weekend's conference could change that.

"We're hoping to make more quantity of organic food available in Missouri, and more variety," Wilkerson said.

"We need more organic products, and I hope that that just continues to grow," Steber said.

The MOA is working on working with an existing co-op that is based in Illinois. In Columbia, you can find organic food at most local grocery stores.

Here is a list of local (Columbia) stores that sell organic foods/products:

-Clovers Natural Market
-Hy-Vee
-Gerbes
-Schnucks
-The Root Cellar
-The Main Squeeze
-The Peace Nook
