HOWARD COUNTY - A Labor Day Festival at Boone's Lick State Historic Site celebrated by re-enacting life in the 19th century.

Many residents in Howard County did just that.

People gathered at Boone's Lick State Historic Site to celebrate Labor Day in the past. The festival style comes from the 19th century, and parents say kids minds are spinning with excitement.

"I think they've found a lot of fun, and we've only been through half of it. I think we've spent more time than we were going to be here," said parent Rusty Strodtman.

Coordinators said the festival turns people back in time.

"Just an opportunity for people to come to historic Salt Lick and also a step back in time," said Event Coordinator Connie Shay.

The festival is an annual Labor Day celebration to basically get families together and take a look how things were done in the past.

"It's just been nice here, there's been a lot of games for the children to do that have to do with the past," Shay said.

Labor Day was created to pay respect to workers who have made the country what it is today. The festival has been held for the past six years.
