COLUMBIA - Some of the city's greenest thumbs got together Saturday for a good cause.
Members of the group Sustain Mizzou dug and scooped a grassy lawn to get ready to plant a vegetable garden. The group hopes to use the garden to teach people how to plant and grow their own food. They also plan to share some of their healthy, home-grown harvest with the Central Missouri Food Bank.
"The food that we grow is going to be very highly nutritious, organically grown, whole foods, very good healthy foods. At the food bank, a lot of times they get donated food that isn't as healthy," said Adam Saunders, a Sustain Mizzou member.
About a half dozen people attended the gardening event.
