JEFFERSON CITY - The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act signed by President Obama hopes to jump-start the American economy and create jobs.
That money will help jump-start Missouri's roads and jobs.
The state Transportation Commission approved $833 million Thursday. The plan is actually about $45 million more than the amount of transportation money expected to be available to Missouri under the stimulus plan, but MODOT says the final list of economic stimulus projects is all about putting Missourians to work fast.
Construction is set to take place at the intersection of Providence and Stadium, as well as 15 other mid-Missouri project are ready to go.
Four of those projects are located in Boone County.
Some resurfacing projects added to the plan will take place in Howard, Linn, Livingston and Randolph south counties. MODOT will spend about $577 million on the roads and bridges within the next two years.
$30 million of the funds will go toward improving minor road systems North on I-70.
All projects in mid-Missouri will be completed by the end of the construction season, and plan to create about 22,000 jobs.
Motorists in mid-Missouri will see approximately ten million dollars worth of additional work to some minor road systems this summer thanks to recovery funding.
