LAKE OZARK - One woman is making a trip to the lake much easier.
For Marian Elliot it was just an idea a month ago. And today it is her reality - the opening of her Lake of the Ozark visitors information center in Osage Beach. It's all about promotion, promotion, promotion.
Currently, Elliot is busy filling her store with brochures to get ready for the Fourth of July, which is one of the busiest weekends at the lake.
"We had a young family that came in; she had not been here since she was a little kid," said Marian Elliot, owner of information center.
"They drove by, see my new sign and the balloons. And they got to come in, and we got to share with them all the things that were going on," described Elliot.
This place is like a real life Google for all things Lake of the ozarks. Many local businesses like this idea as well.
"Well, I think it's going to be great. I think Marian has done a wonderful job trying to help the local businesses get the word out about the place we live and the services and the kind of fun and activities that happen here at the lake," explained Dennis Reese, Iguana Corporate Secretary.
"Because we don't have anything like this. So many people come by and ask the locals and go to the mall and ask them," said Samantha Elliot, part owner. "We just needed something like this where everyone can be involved, the locals and the tourists."
Elliot's business will serve lake residents as well. She'll erect a kiosk of local services and job information. The center is open 10 hours a day, seven days a week.
