AUXVASSE - Forty-eight years ago farmers started Loafer's Day - a tradition still being held Monday.

Loafer's Day lasts an entire week, giving friends and family time to catch up with one another. People come from throughout the mid-Missouri area. Some say they see it as a reunion.

"Its been good to find out what they have done throughout their life," said Donal Knipp, a Loafer organizer. "You know you have people and maybe they have been gone for thirty years and they show up for this one day, and it's interesting to talk to them just about anything."

Local organizations provide lunch for those who attend. At the end of the week, names will be drawn for a chance to win two 25 dollar cash prizes.
