Yes....Hallsville has its first varsity football team, but it's not new.
"It's probably working out best for us to be a team first because we already know each other," said Hallsville Junior Quarterback Kyle Evanoff. "We know how fast somebody's going to run. We're all ready together. Ready to play."
"This year's nothing different for us. Just a little bit bigger, a little bit faster, hit a little harder," said Hallsville Football Coach John Morris. "But we're the same, a little bit bigger, little bit faster, hit a little bit harder too."
And the players are happy to start a football tradition, but wouldn't have minded a varsity team earlier on.
"I'm kind of disappointed we just got it because I think if we had got football a while back we'd be a pretty established program because we have good athletes here," said Senior Quarterback Blake Berkbuegler.
Quarterback Blake Berkbuegler leads a power running offense, but don't forget about the spread.
"We can run well out of that (spread), plus this is Blake Berkbuegler's third year. He can throw the ball and we have some good receivers," said Coach Morris. "So, we can go right into a spread game."
Running from a power I or out of the option, the Indians will finally be running for dear old varsity.
