COLUMBIA - The downtown district, in collaboration with Columbia Park and Recreation, invites families to come out and enjoy the live music and other various activities.
Most of Thursday's activities will be at the expanded Flat Branch Park.
Some folks from Parks and Rec, along with local restaurants, are excited about the new park.
"It's a neat little park in downtown Columbia at our trail head. And now that we have Flat Branch park too, with the spray grounds and all the different things going on, we've been able to expand that part of the area of the park and its a lot of fun and a great place to come and bring your family," said Karen Ramey of Columbia Parks and Recreation.
Kurt Mirtsching of Shakespeare's Pizza sees it as an opportunity for more business.
"A lot of people come downtown to experience downtown, to see what's going on, to enjoy the bands the carriage rides and so forth. And I know a small number of them seem to trickle into our place and stop by for a pizza or a beer so we get a little business out of it," Mirtsching said.
Mirtshing is on the planning committee for the fesitval and said this year's festival will be the last for downtown. The festival started 19 years ago to bring more people to downtown Columbia.
He said it's accomplished that.
