COLUMBIA - This weekend's planned march by Neo-Nazi demonstrators has set many Columbia residents on edge.
"By donating a certain amount per minute that the marchers are actually in our town that gives us an opportunity to raise money for organizations that are the targets of the hate of the Nazis," said Roger Worthington, Chief Diversity Officer.Right now a 60 minute march would raise more than $1,700. If the march lasts the intended 5 hours, the site would bring in nearly $6,000.
"If I was the leader of this group, I wouldn't even show up because I'm producing money to help achieve the goals that I want to destroy," Eduardo Crespi, Executive Director of Centro Latino.
With this proactive strategy some hope the headlines don't read negatively.
