WASHINGTON - Candidate Hillary Clinton is gearing up for this Sunday's primary in Puerto Rico; the last push before the final primaries this Tuesday in Montana and South Dakota.
"I will come to Puerto Rico, I promise, I will be a President who actually comes to Puerto Rico," Clinton said.
Barack Obama needs only 47 more delegates to reach the 2026 necessary to clinch the nomination. As he comes closer to reaching that mark, talk of the Vice-Presidential slot increases. Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell, a Hillary Clinton backer, said this week that Obama should pick Clinton as his running mate.Rendell, whose name has also come up as a potential running mate for Obama, says Clinton should be on the ticket.
Meanwhile, Obama is considering his first visit to Iraq since becoming a Presidential candidate. Revealing his plans to the New York Times, he declined John McCain's offer of a joint trip saying he doesn't "want to be involved in a political stunt." Obama's campaign has been considering an overseas trip since last year sharpen his foreign policy credentials but the extended fight for the Democratic nomination delayed those plans.Obama is pushing for a quick withdrawal in Iraq.
"My intention is to bring this war in Iraq to a close and to start bringing our troops home in an orderly fashion," Obama said.
John McCain is criticizing Obama for not visiting Iraq since 2006 but says he's happy to hear about Obama's plans.
"I am glad to hear that Senator Obama is quote considering a trip to Iraq. It is long over due, it has been 871 days since he was there. And I am confident that when he goes, he will then change his position on the conflict in Iraq because he will see the success that has been achieved on the ground," McCain said.
McCain says Obama has no experience, knowledge, or judgment about Iraq. McCain reminded viewers on several campaign stops this week that Obama has wanted to surrender for a long time.
