JEFFERSON CITY (AP) - The Internal Revenue Service says it has checks worth more than $3 million that it wants about 5,000 Missourians to receive.

The checks can't be sent because of mailing address errors.

IRS spokesman Michael Devine says the U.S. Postal Service couldn't deliver 1,350 regular refund checks and 3,761 economic stimulus checks. Devine says if someone moves or changes addresses without updating the IRS or the U.S. Postal Service, a refund check sent to their last known address is returned as undeliverable.

The law requires the IRS to issue the stimulus checks by Dec. 31. For information, visit www.irs.gov or call the IRS refund hot line at (800) 829-1954
