CAPE GIRARDEAU (AP) - A device to detect methamphetamine is being tested in Missouri. The maker of the scanner, CDEX Incorporated of Arizona, says the product has been through several rounds of beta testing, including testing with the Missouri State Highway Patrol. A patrol spokesman declines comment. The scanner works by emitting energy that triggers and isolates particles for analysis. CDEX officials tell the Southeast Missourian newspaper in Cape Girardeau that the technology can be tailored to hone in on any controlled substance, from methamphetamine to cocaine to black tar heroin. The device is expected to hit the market within two months and will cost two-thousand to 55-hundred dollars.
