JEFFERSON CITY - Democrat Jay Nixon rounds the corner in the last lap of the gubernatorial race with a final push in Jefferson City.

With only a week left until the election the candidate hopes to bring in votes by talking about jobs.

Tuesday night Nixon was in his home territory speaking at McClung Park. Next Tuesday he will vote at the same place where he spoke.

In his speech he encouraged voters to turn out at their own polling locations despite long lines and a long ballot. He laid out a game plan to win, comparing his campaign to Missouri tiger football. He says he didn't get into the game to lose and he expects to win just like Missouri against Colorado on Saturday.

Football aside, Nixon also talked about key issues for this election bringing up health care, education, energy, and the economy.

"I look forward to having the opportunity to do that," Nixon said.

Kenny Hulshof was also talking about jobs and the economy. He was in Kansas City and St. Joseph making one last lap around the Show-Me State.

According to the Hulshof campaign, he'll end the tour in Columbia at the Republican headquarters Monday night.
