COLUMBIA - Columbia Police apologized Tuesday to a local business for a SWAT team drill at Planned Parenthood about a week ago.

Columbia Police simulated a hostage situation, and are now apologizing to hair salon owners Al and Debra Harris. The Harris' said the heavily armed SWAT team right next door alarmed customers who thought the incident was real. Police didn't notify the Harris' in advance of the exercise, leaving them in the dark.

"First I was very angered and embarassed for my family and myself and more so for my customers," Debra Harris said. "We didn't really know what was going on until after I asked."

In a press release Tuesday Columbia Police said they "wish to publicly apologize to the Harris family, and to the customers of their business."

The Harris' say they feel better after the apology, but the incident still cost them business.
