JEFFERSON CITY - The new headquarters for the National Biodiesel Board officially opened on Wednesday.
Like many companies, its goal was to one day move to Washington D.C. However, but the NBD decided to put down roots in Jefferson City.
"They wanted to keep their roots where they started, and I think that is really a key factor to what they've been doing," said Cliff Smith of Mid-America Biofuels LLC.
NBD leaders said they hope this new beginning will help them reach their goal of having biodiesel comprise five percent of diesel fuel by 2015.
"I think most people who object biodiesel is probably because they lack the knowledge about what the fuel is - it is different from what they've been used to using. It's different from diesel, so instead of trying something different its easier to stick with what they know," said Donnell Rehagen of the National Biodiesel Board.
Biodiesel is all about helping reduce our carbon footprint, so for the company decided to add amenities such as recycled carpet and non-toxic paint to its new headquarters.
