COLUMBIA - Tuesday's campaign visit by Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Joe Biden left an impression on Columbians.

Joan Watson got to see Biden while exercising at the ARC.

"They let about 20 of us stand on the gallery," Watson said. "He looked up and saw us standing in the gallery and said, 'don't jump! We need all the voters we can get'."

The ARC depends on space rentals to generate operating expenses.

"When we approached this, we let them know they would have to pay the hourly gym rate to take over that space for that time period," said Erika Coffman of the ARC.

ARC employees said the spot was chosen because of its openness, lack of back hallways, and easy access to the gym. With Biden's successful stop in Columbia, there are rumors that more presidential visits could be in the future.

"The secret service indicated that since we are a larger city, as well as some other cities in Missouri, there's a possibility of more candidates coming here before the election," said Capt. Zim Schwartze of the Columbia Police Department.

There has been no official announcement from either party about Presidential campaign stops as they are usually planned a few days in advance.

There are 54 days until the general election.
