COLUMBIA - On Monday, Columbia's representative in the state legislature, Judy Baker, will make campaign stops in Columbia and Mexico.

Her visit is only a small snapshot of a much larger picture. With Blunt out of the picture as governor in 2008, three others want his job.

The entire political shuffle revolves around the coveted governors office. When Blunt announced he would not seek a second term, Republican's Sarah Steelman and Kenny Hulshof announced after a little delay, they'd try for the state's top job.Democrat Jay Nixon had previously announced he would also run.

Their announcement created openings for their jobs, State Treasurer, U.S. Representative for Missouri's 9th District, and Attorney General.

The race for Steelman's job as Treasurer include Republican state senator Brad Lager, Arnold Missouri Mayor, Democrat Mark Powell and Democrat Andria Simckes.

For Kenny Hulshof's Congressional Seat, Democratic State Representative Judy Baker, Former House Speaker Steve Gaw, Representative Danie Moore, and former MU football star Brock Olvo are all in the race.

Finally, when Jay Nixon announced he'd run for governor, Republican State Senate President Pro Tem Mike Gibbons, Democratic Senator Chris Koster, Democratic Representative Margaret Donnelly, and Democratic Representative Jeff Harris announced they're all looking to be the next Missouri Attorney General.

Many candidates are in a bunch of races that have all opened up because of Blunt's decision about a month ago. We can expect more visits like Baker's from all candidates in the future. Missouri residents get to make their choice among all these candidates in the Missouri primary on August 5th.
