JEFFERSON CITY - They'll roll the dice in April with a vote, but tonight's meeting may show if a riverboat casino is in the cards for Jefferson City.
There's still time to make plans to come to the meeting, as it starts at 7pm tonight at the Jefferson City Community Center.
A speaker from the Missouri Gaming Commission will give an overview of gaming laws in Missouri. Attendents of the meeting will hear the pros and cons of a Riverboat Casino in their community.
The issue is already on the ballot, ready to be voted upon on Tuesday April 8th. This meeting will help citizens make an informed decision.
"Depending on the outcome... Look out for the best interest of the people of Missouri. ," says David Welch from the Missouri Gaming Commission.
No casino has actually shown interest in bringing their business to Jefferson City before. But one former City Council member wants the vote to pass just in case the opportunity does come up.
"People have the democratic right.... if someone shows up to put a casino here," says len stella, a former city council member.
