One building could have been the home to the WM Sporting Goods, Firearms, and Pawn store, but the Fayette Planning and Zoning Committee denied two local women, Donna Walls and Angie Malone, who want to open the pawn shop.

Walls understands her store can come with a negative connatation, but she's confident it would have been a positive addition to the town.

"Angie is a police officer here in Fayette, so being a police officer she's going to know most of the people that come in," Walls said. "So she's going to know pretty much immediately that person probably came by it dishonestly."

The planning and zoning committee did suggest another site for the business that was away from downtown area. The committee will take another look at the downtown ordinance on August 11.
