COLUMBIA - Investigators with the Major Crimes Unit arrested both Horace Johnson and Keyonda Lumpkin, the parents of 2-year old Cortez Johnson.
The Boone County Prosecutors Office charged Cortez's parents with 2nd degree murder. Cortez Johnson died on June 25th in Columbia.
The Medical Examiners Office has ruled it a homicide. The cause of death is blunt force trauma to the toddler's head.
Horace Johnson is currently an inmate in the Missouri Department of Corrections because of a parole violation. Keyonda Lumpkin is in the Boone County Jail on unrelated charges.
Both are being held on $1 million bonds.
