LAKE OZARK - Camden County's unemployment rate is lower than the states overall average rate.

Lake area business owners are doing well this time of year because tourism is high in summer months.

Camden County's unemployment rate is a low 7.9 percent compared to the State average of 9 percent.

Mark Dicky is the owner of Mike Flint's boat rental and he says summer months means more business. He says the summer months contribute to the low unemployment rate.

Dickey says his all six of his employee's are seasonal and only work in the summer months. He said the unemployment rate will most likely drop after summer is over.

"You got to get leaner and meaner and you got to market harder for the business that is out there," Dickey said.

Back in January the unemployment rate for Camden County was at 12.1 percent.
