COLUMBIA - Attorney General wants to shut down funeral home because of unusual practices.
The Attorney General's Office is trying to shut down a Columbia funeral home. It's the Warren Funeral Chapel located on Ash Street.
The AG's office said inspectors found bodies stored without refrigeration or embalming for more that 24 hours and in one case, for more that 10 months.
On July 11th, inspectors noted a strong odor when they entered the home.
The lawsuit named Harold Warren Sr. and Harold Warren Jr. as defendants.
Neighbors say they can't believe the house is shutting down.
Maurice Jordan a neighbor of the funeral home said, "I couldn't see that.. not him... He is just straight forward guy."
The AG's office says the bodies were handled without gloves, and some bodies were not cremated as requested. KOMU asked Warren to comment, but he refused to say anything on camera--or off.
