Lasik eye surgery has grown in popularity, but some patients are reporting complications.

The FDA is now looking into the long-term effects. Nearly six million Americans have undergone the surgery, where the cornea is permanently reshaped to improve a patient's vision. Experts say 95 percent of patients are happy with the results, but a small number experience long-term complications, like double vision, dry eye and halos around objects at night. The FDA will issue an online questionnaire for patients to track their experience.

The FDA has approved the HPV vaccine for boys, and a second similar vaccine for girls will soon be on the market.

Glaxo-Smith-Kline's Cervarix targets Human Papilloma virus, which can lead to cervical cancer over time if left untreated.  Merck's Gardasil shot has been used in the U.S. since 2006. Last year it raked in $1.4 million worldwide.

Some St. Louis area school districts said they might not recognize perfect attendance this year.

The Jefferson County R-VII school district fears recognition may keep some kids from staying home when they're sick. The school district is shut down until next week after more than 20 percent of its student body was out with the flu Monday. The superintendent said district leaders will meet Thursday to discuss whether it would make sense to hold off on perfect attendance awards. Students return to class Tuesday.
