The delegate selection process is just the first step to determining who will represent Missouri at the convention in Denver.

Delegates selected Thursday night won't change how your vote counts at the convention. The caucus system just puts names to the delegate spots.

Thursday night there were two democratic caucuses in Boone County. As participants sign in, they have to dedicate their vote to either Clinton or Obama. Delegates are chosen from the caucuses based on the results in the 9th Congressional District.

Obama will get 15 regular delegates and 15 alternates, Clinton gets 16 regular delegates and 16 alternates. The delegates selected will go to the state convention. Delegates from all counties in the 9th Congressional District will also meet in Mexico on March 27th. At the meeting, they will narrow the list down and select five national delegates to go to Denver.

"Not many people get to go, so if I do get elected I'll feel really lucky. If I don't well then just go on," said Phyllis Fugit, who is running to be a delegate.

"It's an honor, it's a thrill, it's just one of those things. It's a lifetime opportunity, and so it was a great experience and I did enjoy it," said Nancy Wilson, a previous delegate.

Missouri Republicans hold their local caucuses in two weeks. The Republican State Convention begins on May 30th.
