COLUMBIA - The rain closed main roads and it also gave subdivisions problems too.

The only rushing water on Brampton Court comes from a basement pump, but water doesn't have to be rushing to end up looking like a lake.

"We've never seen water like this before," said resident Heidi Campell.

Brampton Court looks more like a lake, and with a flood plain in their backyards some houses are surrounded.

"Looked out in the backyard, we we're a little concerned. Then I went to get the paper out of the driveway and it was almost under water," explained resident Ashley Richards.

At the height, water rose three inches every 15 minutes. At the end of the court residents are battling more than a flooded backyard.

"I talked to the neighbors, their basement is totally flooded," said Campell.

The water also left one resident's car completely covered in water.

"He's actually on vacation, I think his neighbors finally decided to tell him about it.

Up the street and at a dead end, Bainbridge Drive has its own lake too. Some neighborhood kids don't mind the water in their front yard and took up fishing.

"It is just like ordinary fishing, except you just come outside stand here and grab a pole," said fisherman Doug Cramer.

"Look at it this way, we now have lakefront property," said Richards.

"My husband's at work, he's not going to believe it when he comes home tonight," stated Campell.
