CLARK - A Carl Edwards race-track development between Columbia and Moberly is a possibility in the city of Clark's future.

By voting next week, Clark, a town of 275 residents could make a monumental decision.

"They want to build a race track and a gas station and a place to eat and they want to put in a place to show horses," resident Penny Neeson said.

She's for it and so are most of the Clark residents who gathered at the town hall meeting Wednesday night. Finding opposition was difficult, but it's there.

"They haven't really told us what they want to do. I hear all these grand ideas but yet all i see is a patch of dirt out there," resident Bobby Colley said.

The first part of the project would involve tearing down a gas station and restaurant and then construction would begin on the 400 acres of land that is bordered by Route 22 and Highway 63. Most of the residents want the project to begin.

"I think the taxes would be a big help because Clark sort of gets short ended in randolph county for getting any money," Neeson said.

Money could be the motivation if Clark votes in favor of the development next week.  The project will pass if it gets a simple majority next tuesday. It could take up to ten years to complete.
